My
passion for educating families about pregnancy and childbirth became
clear after experiencing the miracle of birthing my own 4 children.
As a Certified Professional Labor Assistant, I realize that the knowledge
of choices can empower families to experience birth in their own way.
I believe that birth is a deeply spiritual and joyful experience that
impacts a woman's entire life. I also recognize that women already know
how to give birth and that a loving atmosphere will make the journey
to motherhood as empowering and fulfilling as it was intended to be.
I am an active member of the Association
of Labor Assistants and Childbirth Educators (ALACE), Doulas of North
America (DONA) and the C.A.R.E Network. I am also a certified HypnoBirthing
practitioner and offer private classes. I am the Midwest Regional Director
of ALACE, coordinating the efforts of 14 states. I am a published photographer
specializing in birth photography and include birth photography as part
of my doula package of services.
I provide insurance forms for reimbursement
consideration and accept Visa, MasterCard, and American Express.

"Kelly
and I wanted to thank you again for all of the work you did for us as
a doula. Your experience and wisdom about laboring allowed Kelly to
have a natural birth after 2 C-Sections.
We were particularly
grateful that you helped us to achieve OUR birth plan rather than your
own. You provided insight and guidance every step of the way. You were
able to gently motivate Kelly and I to do what we needed to do to accomplish
the goals we had set.
Your calm and peaceful demeanor during the more exciting parts of labor
helped me to not become overly frenetic. You did an excellent job and
we highly recommend your services. "

I was so disappointed when I had to be induced after getting pregnancy-induced hypertension near the end of my pregnancy, but LaNette helped me to gradually wean off the pitocin so that I ended up with the natural, gentle labor and delivery I had hoped for. Without LaNette’s support and encouragement, I wouldn’t have known how to take back control of my baby’s birth.
LaNette was the world’s best safety net before, during, and after my labor. The birthing class enabled me and my husband to feel more prepared and confident in our ability to manage a drug-free birth. Then when complications arose during my pregnancy, LaNette helped me to consider my options and gave me the space to make decisions for my ideal birth. For first-time parents like us, a doula can be huge advantage in the unfamiliar birthing process.
LaNette kept our hopes up and kept us feeling like I was always making good progress towards birth, even when I might have otherwise felt frustrated. Her suggestions for different laboring positions helped me stay on track for a relatively short first labor.
