Marcia Barritt, CD(DONA), ICCE, LCCE, IBCLC
Nurturing Transitions

Marcia is an ICEA and Lamaze International Certified Childbirth Educator, an ICEA and DONA Certified Birth Doula, an ICEA approved doula trainer, and a International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. She is also completing certification as Professional Labor Assistant through ALACE.

Marcia has taught private and group childbirth education classes in the Milwaukee area since 1976 for two community-based parent-sponsored organizations and at the present time, for an area hospital. She is founder of Nurturing Transitions, which offers in-home lactation consultation, professional labor assistance, as well as private, independent breastfeeding and childbirth classes.

Marcia is the parent of three daughters and a son and is an accredited La Leche League leader since 1972. Recently, Marcia attended a series of three continuing education workshops on advanced labor support as well as a birth scenario workshop with a doula trainer and author. Additionally, Marcia has completed training as a HypnoBirthing practitioner and is currently completing certification to become a HypnoBirthing instructor.

Doula services include:

  • Two 2.5 hour prenatal visits, providing hands-on opportunities to practice relaxation and positioning, birth plan preparation, education about birth options.
  • Labor support at home before entering the hospital as well as during the hospital stay
  • Labor support for homebirthing families as well as hospital families
  • Breastfeeding assistance in the immediate postpartum time as well as during the first few weeks of life - including phone consultations and home visits as needed.
  • At least one postpartum home visit
