Transitions: Birth Services for Every Body
Transitions Birth Services is a Milwaukee-based midwifery practice providing out-of-hospital care for your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum period. Lucky Tomaszek, LM, CPM, has spent more than 20 years as a birthworker and more than 10 years as a sexuality educator. Informed choice is the cornerstone of care at Transitions. This includes tests, screens, procedures and every moment of physical contact. For the last two decades, Lucky has focused on providing excellent care and accurate education to the communities she works with. As a queer woman and member of the LGBTQ+ community, she provides welcoming and inclusive to all of her clients and makes no assumptions about their gender, orientation, relationship status.
Lucky Tomaszek is a licensed midwife in the state of Wisconsin. At the age of 11, Lucky watched her cat give birth to her first litter of kittens way back in 1984. From that moment, she knew she belonged in the world of birth. Twelve years later, she began pursuing her dream through self study. In 1998, Lucky trained to be a doula, and was certified by DONA in 1999. That was also the year that Lucky became a La Leche League Leader. After the birth of her third baby in 2000, she began training with a homebirth midwife in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Since those early beginnings, Lucky has attended more than 300 births in various capacities. Most recently, Lucky spent six months in Utah, working in a high volume birth center to finely hone her craft. Lucky also works as a sexuality educator at The Tool Shed, providing education and trainings for birthworkers and regular folks alike on a variety of topics. She is the author and founder of the Birthworker Inclusivity Training Series, the only training focused on the needs of sexual minorities. Lucky is also a published writer, formerly writing a parenting column (2002-2009) and currently writing a sex ed column for Milwaukee Record (since 2016).
